Learning music theory can be boring, difficult, and sometimes impossible. These free online lessons will take you through each topic in an accessible way, making it seem fun and doable. The links below will take you to a wide variety of topics, ranging from the basics through to Bach Harmony and beyond.
As well as reading through each lesson, you can watch videos to illustrate many of the points covered in each topic, and you can download worksheets, games, quizzes, charts, posters and flashcards.
Music teachers can use these webpages on their interactive whiteboards. The diagrams and videos illustrate the topics clearly and succinctly. Demonstrations on the piano in the videos can seen as well as heard, whereas if you played them on the piano in front of the class, most pupils would only be able to hear what you are playing and only grasp a little of what you are saying.
The aim of this website is to make theory come alive.
